BS English – Seventh Semester
The seventh semester of the BS English program is research-oriented and focuses on the application of linguistic and literary theories. It equips students with practical tools for academic inquiry, stylistic analysis, and a deeper understanding of literature in local and global contexts.
Course Overview:
ELL401 – Research Methods and Term Paper Writing (3 Cr Hrs): Introduces students to essential research methodologies, academic writing techniques, and term paper structuring, preparing them for scholarly work and final-year projects.
ELL402 – Introduction to Applied Linguistics (3 Cr Hrs): Explores real-world applications of linguistic theory in fields such as language teaching, translation, and communication, connecting theory to practice.
ELL403 – Introduction to Stylistics (3 Cr Hrs): Focuses on the analysis of literary and non-literary texts through linguistic features, enhancing students’ ability to interpret style, tone, and textual effects.
ELL404 – Literary Theory and Practice (3 Cr Hrs): Builds on earlier theoretical courses, encouraging students to apply critical theories to literary texts in both analytical and interpretive ways.
ELL405 – Pakistani Literature in English (3 Cr Hrs): Offers a study of literary works by Pakistani writers in English, highlighting themes of identity, culture, postcolonialism, and social change.
