BS English – Sixth Semester
The sixth semester of the BS English program offers a comprehensive exploration of modern literary genres and advanced linguistic structures. It focuses on contemporary literature, discourse analysis, and creative nonfiction, while strengthening students’ command over grammar and syntax.
Course Overview:
ELL305 – Modern Poetry (3 Cr Hrs): A study of major poets and movements of the 20th century, focusing on themes, techniques, and the evolving nature of poetic expression in modern contexts.
ELL306 – Modern Drama (3 Cr Hrs): Explores significant modern plays and dramatic innovations, emphasizing social, political, and psychological dimensions of drama in the 20th century.
ELL307 – Modern Novel (3 Cr Hrs): Analyzes key novels from the modern era, with attention to narrative style, themes of alienation, identity, and the impact of modernism on prose fiction.
ELL308 – Grammar & Syntax (3 Cr Hrs): Offers an in-depth understanding of English grammatical structures and syntactic patterns, essential for linguistic precision and academic writing.
ELL309 – Discourse Studies (3 Cr Hrs): Investigates how language is used in various social contexts through discourse analysis, focusing on structure, function, and interpretation of texts.
