Doctor of Pharmacy – First Professional Year (1st Year)
The first professional year of the Pharm.D program lays a strong foundation in both basic and pharmaceutical sciences, integrating theoretical and practical knowledge essential for future clinical practice.
Theory Subjects:
Pharmaceutical Chemistry-I (Organic) – Introduces the fundamental principles of organic chemistry with a focus on structure, reactions, and pharmaceutical applications.
Pharmaceutical Chemistry-II (Biochemistry) – Covers biochemical processes and molecular biology relevant to human health and drug action.
Pharmaceutics-I (Physical Pharmacy) – Focuses on the physical and chemical principles behind drug formulation and delivery systems.
Physiology – Provides in-depth knowledge of normal body functions essential for understanding disease mechanisms.
Anatomy & Histology – Offers foundational knowledge of human body structure and microscopic tissue organization.
English – Enhances communication skills, especially in scientific and healthcare contexts.
Practical Subjects:
Hands-on laboratory experience in organic chemistry, biochemistry, physical pharmacy, physiology, and histology reinforces theoretical learning and develops essential technical skills.
Total Marks: 1000
- This year is crucial for building the scientific base required for advanced pharmaceutical education and clinical training in later years.
